Such material has an interesting specification: at environmental
temperature and pressure doesn't dissolve becoming a liquid like water ice,
but sublimes, that is it travels directly from the solid state to the gaseous
state without passing through the liquid one. In the end we can surely say we have several advantages using this cleaning
system:
The application field of this dry ice blasting is very large and covers industrial
fields where it is requested the removal of contaminants as: sludges, oils,
greases, resin and rubber scales either solid or semi-solid, rust, soot, calcareous
scales, alimentary material residuals and many others. [Argomenti

Practically, when the flow hits the surface it penetrates the contaminant
to take off and in the meantime it begins to sublime generating the gas. This
one interposes itself between the contaminant and the surface taking out the
dirt from the piece, easy to do because of the thermic change provocated by
the ice that hardens and makes brittle the contaminant. So this process that,
differently from the traditional blasting that takes advantages just from
the solid particles kinetics energy that are immersed in the cleaning spout,
works with the combination of the kinetics energy itself and dry ice chemical
physical effects.
Another difference compaired to the traditional blasting is that the contaminant
removal doesn,t happen by the material removal with consequent piece abrasion
and dimensional changing, but it happens by the carbon dioxide chisel effect.
This new blasting is a portable equipment with gun, ejector that needs only
compressed air at 5-6 bar at least.
