Ultrasonic systems are used to clean any product, from large machine castings, gears and shafts, to the most delicate pieces such as electronic integrated circuits. Equally efficient for cleaning metals, glass, ceramics, plastic. Ultrasonic cleaning depends on cavitation, the rapid formation and violent collapse of minute bubbles or cavities in a cleaning liquid.
The agitation by countless small and intense imploding bubbles creates a highly effective scrubbing action that blasts the contaminant from the parts to be cleaned.
Cavitation is produced by introducing high frequency (ultrasonic), high intensity sound waves into a liquid.
The three essential components of any ultrasonic cleaning system are a tank containing the cleaning solution, a transducer to convert electrical energy and an ultrasonic generator.

There are two different types of transducers that can be offered according to the cleaning problems:

Electrostrictive made of Lead Zirconate Titanate and other ceramics which change their phisycal dimensions, placed in a varying voltage electrical field suitable when soft and delicate cleaning is required.

Magnetostrictive made of Nichel laminations that will change dimensions in a varying magnetic field suitable when intense and strong mechanical action is required.

Recently Fismet Industriale has developped a special type of ultrasonic transducer proper for rinsings.
These transducers utility has become necessary as at the end of ultrasonic cleaning cycle pieces to be treated came out drenched with the detergent solution as the ultrasonic action allows to obtain a better detergent solution penetration inside the metal porosity. So it is necessary the same penetration action during the rinsing cycle too in order to take away detergent residuals even much depth.
Moreover the using of special ultrasonic transducers in rinsing allows to:
- Improve cleaning quality,
- Reduce rinsing water consumption,
- No residuals due to the entrainment in following bathes,
- Following beading treatments (electroplatings) best quality,
- Following beading treatments (electroplatings) long lasting.
